Four years after its founding, human-computer interaction and robotics company Rokid held its first major press conference on June 26 in Hangzhou. Dubbed “Rokid Jungle,” Founder and CEO Misa Zhu quipped that the presser was “a combination of Google IO and Apple WWDC.”
On December 5th Alibaba, Ant Financial, and Shanghai Shentong Metro Group jointly launched a new voice interaction system for purchasing subway tickets. Riders can now tell a machine their destination — for example, Zhongshan Park — and the system will use the AutoNavi cloud map to issue a ticket for the nearest station.
Personal computers and mobile devices are in their heyday. Researchers are swarming standalone AI, focusing on how to automate self-learning intelligent systems. The interfaces for wearables meanwhile are evolving from smart screens to gesture commands, like those often seen in AR and VR commercials.
