The more than 2,000 participants from over 120 countries were here for the *AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva 2019* — four days of presentations and discussions on how to make the world a better place for children to grow up in by leveraging the emerging power of machine learning.
Hundreds of artificial intelligence researchers, UN staff and curious locals listened, watched and tapped their feet as London-born composer and human beatboxer Reeps One “battled” against an AI-powered real-time music generator trained on his own riffs.
David Danks commented on self-driving vehicle testing on the streets of his Pittsburgh neighbourhood: “They’re boring. You don’t notice them anymore because you see them five to ten times every day. People started to walk more and more frequently directly in front of the Uber cars, disproportionately more than they would ever in front of a human-driven car.”
Synced sat down with Christopher Fabian, the co-founder of UNICEF’s for-profit Innovation Fund, in Geneva, where he took us through the Innovation Fund’s innovative mandate.
