The organizers of NeurIPS (Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems) today announced the dates and other information regarding NeurIPS 2019.
The world’s most prestigious machine learning conference will be held Sunday December 8 through Saturday December 14 at the Vancouver Convention Center. The annual gathering will once again host an industry Expo Day on the eve of the official conference kick off. The Call for Competitions deadline is March 8, and the Call for Tutorials is be open till June 11.
Last year registration opened at 8:00 a.m. PDT, and all tickets for the main conference were snapped up in under a dozen minutes. Tickets for tutorials and workshops saw similar demand and sold out in about 30 minutes. This year, registration will open on September 3, again at 8:00 a.m. PDT, but “NeurIPS plans to modify the registration process to reduce the impact of a rapid sellout.”
Last year, entry Visa issues marred the conference in Montreal. Foreign researchers, particularly from African countries, reported delays and difficulties obtaining Canadian visas. There are concerns such problems could plague the 2019 conference, which will also take place in Canada.
Streamlining the visa process for international researchers attending conferences would seem a positive step for Canada and its emerging position on the global AI stage. On the NeurIPS blog, conference organizers have pledged to better “share with the community what is happening with the conference behind the scenes” to make the process more transparent, smooth and fair.
NeurIPS 2019 will be the thirty-third iteration of the conference, which started as a low-key affair in Denver, USA. As always, Synced is looking forward to the annual machine learning conference, and we will be on-site in Vancouver to bring you all the news as it happens.
More information about NeurIPS 2019 can be found on its official website.
